The Broken Column,Frida Kahlo, 1944
Analysis: Frida painted this paining after she got in a really bad accident. As a result, she had to have spinal surgery and was told by the doctor that she wouldn't be able to walk again. The needles that are sticking her shows how much pain she's in as well as the white drops falling from her face that appears to be tears. Her body is split in two meaning that the whole experience has torn her apart and whats keeping her together is the brace. I think the holes in the ground show how empty she feels. This painting shows nothing but pain and misery.
